The first meeting of ministerial committee was held on 24th October 1979 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and cooperation has been carried out under Joint Steering Committee (JSC) and Joint Technical Working Group (JTWG). Several cooperation projects were agreed upon;

 
 

- River Basin Planning : “The study of the Golok River Basin Development Project” which was under technical assistance from the Government of Australia from September 1983 to September 1985.

 
 

- Feasibility Study and Detailed Design : “The Feasibility Study of the Golok River Mouth Improvement Project” which was under technical assistance from the Government of Australia from July 1991 to June 1994.

 
 

- Construction : The construction of “The Golok River Mouth Improvement Project was carried out in 2 phases :

Phase I : Construction of breakwater and appurtenant structures from June 1996 – March 1999

Phase II : Construction of common works, protection work of Transit Point B and dredging of Golok entrance channel from March 1997 to August 1999.

 
 

- Monitoring : After construction, Joint Evaluation Team (JET) has set up since 2000 to follow up and evaluate the monitoring survey of Golok River Mouth Improvement Project
